Wilbert Earl Melton was born on August 8, 1966 at Knollwood Hospital in Riverside, California to his late parents Reverend George Melton Jr. and Mrs. Ola Fay Melton. Wilbert grew up in Riverside, California with his parents, a brother James, a sister Rhonda, and his dog Blackie.
Wilbert enjoyed many holidays, outings, and vacations with his family. Wilbert had a passion for cooking. His specialty was baking, which he learned from his mother at an early age. Wilbert learned the skills of lawn and gardening from his father, who was an expert at these services.
Wilbert was active in sports - playing baseball and basketball in local youth leagues. Wilbert attended West Riverside Elementary, Mission Middle School, and graduated from Rubidoux High School. Wilbert furthered his education by attending and graduating from Riverside City College, with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. Wilbert worked in the Computer and Gaming industry. He designed Facebook pages, logos, and websites for clients.
Wilbert accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was baptized and became a member at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Riverside, California under the leadership of founding Pastor Reverend O.E. Jones.
Wilbert assisted in the building of the current edifice of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church along with his father and other deacons and members.
Throughout his formative years, he participated in many church activities and programs. Wilbert later assisted in the Finance office, and later became an Ordained Deacon.
Wilbert met and married in Holy Matrimony with Cheryl Mathews who was the love of his life. They enjoyed many years of matrimony together. To this Union there are five beautiful, blessed children. Three daughters and two sons. Donna, Michelle, Anastasiya, Kristoph and Jonnathan.
Wilbert had a special and unique loving bond with each one of his children as they were all his pride and joy, and he loved the more than life. They enjoyed many years together as a happy family.
Wilbert was honored to be a proud Grandfather to one grandson Erin. Wilbert also had memorable moments with his sister-in-law Rosemary and brother-in-law Kevin. Wilbert adored and was very proud of his niece Renisha. Wilbert was also uncle to Kyle, our heavenly angel.
Wilbert later relocated to Barstow, California where he lived and worked until he was called away to his heavenly home on January 3, 2022.
Wilbert’s memory will be cherished by many loving and loyal family members and friends.
