Rene Raymond Parra “more commonly known as Ray Parra” passed away in the early morning of August 8, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Parra, wife Joann Parra, and son Jacob Parra. On that early morning, they were there to greet and welcome him with open arms. He is in heaven, happy, pain free, and at peace in the company of family.
Ray was born on October 15, 1961 in Riverside, California. His parents are Raymond and Vera Parra. He has two sisters, Elizabeth and Cynthia and one brother, Phillip. Ray was a happy child who loved food. He was a dare devil who enjoyed the thrill of bike ramps. He was influenced by Evil Knievel and jumped ramps with no fear.
In Ray’s adult life he was a block and brick mason, cement finisher and construction foreman. He learned his trade by working with his father. He had a special talent when working with block and stone. His work can be seen on many buildings through out the inland empire. The stonework he did at his brother Phillip’s home stands to this day and is admired by many.
In 1981 Ray married Priscilla Oporto. They had four children, Angelina, Jashua, Jonathan, and Jacob. In 1994 Ray married Joann Girardi. Together they raised Joann’s daughter, Danielle Torres who Ray loved as his own. He had a special love for all his children. His strongest desire was to have a connection and bond with each of them.
Ray was known for his personality. He was rarely serious and loved to joke and laugh. He was unique and original and rarely said no to anyone. He paved his own way and lived life on his terms.
One of his most admirable characteristics was he never held resentment. He was a forgiving man who lived in the moment. His love for his mother, sisters, and brother will never be forgotten. He gave them big tight hugs that lasted and always said “I love you.”
Ray is survived by his mother Vera Parra, his siblings Elizabeth Parra-Mena, Cynthia Parra-Reyes and Phillip Parra. His children Angelina Rodriguez, Jashua Parra, Jonathan Parra, and his thirteen grandchildren.
Ray lives on in our memory and in our hearts. He will never be forgotten. Ray we love you. This is goodbye for now but not forever. We will see you again.
