Owen Thomas Burns

Be the first to offer your condolences on Owen's Tribute Wall
Owen Thomas Burns, a young man who lived life like he was in the driver's seat with a full tank of gas, took his final joyride on November 4, 2023. Born on May 6, 2006, in Riverside, CA, he revved up life's engine for a brief but impactful 17 years. He crossed the finish line back in his hometown, leaving behind a trail of laughter, creativity, and thoughtfulness that will never be forgotten.
Owen, or "BIG RED" as his friends affectionately called him, was a product of Jurupa Valley education system. He began his academic journey at Pacific Elementary School, where he mastered the art of finger painting and nap taking. He then shifted gears to Indian Hills Elementary and Jurupa Middle, where he honed his quick wit and knack for problem-solving. Finally, he roared through the hallways of Patriot High School, leaving a legacy of laughter and creativity that will echo for years to come.
Work was never just a four-letter word for Owen, it was an adventure. He earned his CAL OSHA card in 11th grade, proving that safety is no laughing matter, even for a comedian. He could swap out an alternator or complete a brake job on the family car faster than you could say "Where's the duct tape?" His crowning achievement, however, was completing a motor swap on his minibike, a feat that had seasoned mechanics scratching their heads in awe.
As much as he loved working on cars, Owen was also a lover of the great outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing football for the Patriot High School Warriors. Though his football career might not have been hall of fame-worthy, he sure enjoyed playing with his team.
Despite his many interests, Owen's greatest love was his family. He was the beloved son of Jason and Vicky Burns, the mischievous little brother to Nathan, and the protective big brother to Aubrey. His unique sense of humor brought joy to their lives in ways that words can't capture. Whether he was helping his dad with a car repair or making his sister laugh after a tough day, Owen was always there with a crazy comment.
Owen's life may have been short, but it was as vibrant and full as a firework show on the Fourth of July. He filled every day with laughter, creativity, and thoughtfulness, making the world a brighter place. Though his engine may have stopped running, his spirit will forever fuel the hearts of those who knew and loved him. So, here's to Owen Thomas Burns, a young man who lived life in the fast lane, but always took the time to enjoy the ride. His laughter will echo in our hearts, his creativity will inspire our minds, and his thoughtfulness will forever remind us to cherish every moment.
In conclusion, let's remember Owen as he would have wanted - with a smile on our faces and a wrench in our hands. After all, life is a journey, not a destination, and Owen sure did enjoy the ride
