Mark Jesus Gutierrez, known for his boisterous laughter and his knack for bringing joy to any room, embarked on his final adventure on August 18, 2024. Known to all as Mark, he made a lasting impression on the world with his loving nature, hilarious antics, and undeniable courage.
Born on June 10, 1994, in the city of Riverside, California, Mark was a fountain of youthful energy and wild creativity. His light shone brightly as he navigated life's winding paths.
Mark's life was far from ordinary, much like the blockbuster movies he so loved to mock with his spot-on impersonations. "Life is like a 10-speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never use," as comedian Charles M. Schulz once quipped, and true to this, Mark used every gear he had. From singing at the top of his lungs to dancing as if nobody was watching, he lived life in full color and high definition.
The plot of Mark's story was rich with love and laughter, woven seamlessly with his devotion to family. He was the leading man in the lives of his beloved daughter, Estella, and his cherished stepson, Anthony, embodying what it meant to be an amazing father. Alongside his wife, Isabel, they crafted a life full of love, outdoor adventures, and shared dreams. Mark's ensemble cast also included his supportive mother April, his father Michael Sr., his sisters Alysia and Anessa, and his brother Michael, who together formed an unbreakable bond. His nieces Viviana, Sophie, Isabella, Brielle, and Aria, and his nephews Jacob and Mikey, will always remember "Uncle Goofball," who knew just how to make them giggle until it hurt. Grandmother Gloria, Grandparents Rita and Joe, his aunts, uncles, and a tribe of cousins completed his circle of love, laughter, and shared memories.
Like any great character, Mark was multifaceted. He was quite the scholar, having earned his GED in Banning, California, and later diving headfirst into college studies in Texas. His endless curiosity and eagerness to learn made him as courageous in the classroom as he was in life.
Mark's career was one of passion and hands-on creativity. An artist at heart, he found joy in tattooing, drawing, and leaving his mark—both figuratively and literally—on the world. His passions indulged in the great outdoors involved camping under the stars, fishing for the big one, and wandering the wild on quests worthy of an action hero. When it came to cars, especially old ones, he could talk the chrome off a bumper, and he poured as much love into working on his truck as he did into everything else in his life.
But perhaps Mark's most magical performances came from the everyday—the times spent mocking movies with his family or getting lost in the melody of a song. His life was a symphony of belly laughs, playful shenanigans, and heartfelt moments that echoed the enduring words of Robin Williams, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it."
Mark was indeed a man of many parts: loving, funny, courageous. He faced life’s script with a twinkle in his eye and a readiness to improvise when the scene called for it. In saying goodbye to Mark, we celebrate the incredible legacy of happiness he crafted and the lives he touched with his unbridled zest for life.
In his own words, Mark might have joked, "I never wanted to be anybody but myself—and I have the tattoos to prove it!" His was a life lived out loud, with a soundtrack comprised of laughter, courage, and love. And while the final credits may have rolled far too soon, Mark Jesus Gutierrez's vibrant spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him to make the most of every scene in the great film that is life.A special thank you to his uncle Danny Gutierrez.
