Luis Alberto Marroquin, known affectionately as Whicho by family and Toker by his )( family, was called to the big comedy club in the sky on July 16, 2023. Born in Los Angeles on November 28, 1981, Whicho was a man who knew how to live life in the fast lane, and he did so with a sense of humor that was as infectious as it was inspiring.
Whicho was a car enthusiast through and through, and he found immense joy in building his low riders. His hands were as gifted as his wit, and he could often be found in the garage, elbow deep in engine grease, working on cars. He had a deep appreciation for Aztec and Mayan ruins, a nod to his heritage that he carried with him throughout his life. This interest was only rivaled by his love for living the high life, a phrase he defined as "enjoying the good things with the good people."
A sports enthusiast, Whicho was a loyal supporter of the Dodgers and the Chicago Bulls. He loved the thrill of a good boxing match, and he was known to throw a few jabs of his own – though his were usually aimed at his brothers in jest. As the comedic genius Robin Williams once said, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it". Whicho embraced this madness, and his life was brighter because of it.
Whicho was a man who could light up a room. His humor was a beacon, drawing people towards him with the promise of laughter and good times. But beneath the jokes and laughter, Whicho was a man of immense kindness. He was the sort of person who would give you the shirt off his back – and then crack a joke about how it probably wouldn’t fit you anyway.
He was a loving son, a protective brother, a dedicated husband, and a proud father. His family was his world, and he loved them with a fierceness that was as palpable as his sense of humor. He was selfless in his love, always putting the needs of his loved ones before his own. His laughter will echo in their hearts forever, a testament to the joy he brought into their lives.
To quote the legendary comedian George Burns, "Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city." But for Whicho, happiness was having his large, loving, caring, close-knit family right by his side. In Norwalk, where he passed away, he left behind a legacy of laughter and love that will continue to bring joy to those who knew him.
In the end, Whicho lived life like he was telling a joke: with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He made the world a funnier, kinder, and more selfless place, and he will be sorely missed. As we bid farewell to Whicho, let's remember him as he was: a man who lived life in the fast lane, with the top down and the radio up, always ready with a joke and a smile. So here's to Whicho, a man who truly knew how to live the high life. May he rest in peace and laughter.
We'll spark one up for you Whicho
