June Eloise Brown Born Feb 1, 1946, in Hempstead, New York, To Mary Gill- Barbour “Mother” Ernest White “father”. She was then adopted by her Aunt Ruth Deanna and Edward Brown. If you saw Mother Brown you saw June, they were inseparable.
June and her family moved to Chicago, IL. They had truly been blessed by God by all the finer things in life. When St. Luke C.O.G.I.C opened their doors in the Mid 60’s under the directives of Elder Luke Austin now Bishop Austin, The Brown family joined.
June was all God, all the time. As a child she sang in the youth choir with Juanita Bynum Now “Prophetess Juanita Bynum”, and many other truly amazing talented singers. She worked at the church giving all her time to God. While serving in the Youth Choir June lead many songs. What a song bird she was. She was also very talented in art. They commissioned her to design an album cover for a 45 “Hold into his hands” that was produced by St. Luke’s Youth Choir. This amazing group of youths all ran together for God. They also followed Andrae Crouch wherever he sang. She referred to them as Andrea faith followers. June and her Church Sisters traveled everywhere together.
June Graduated from Walker High, and went on to Loop Jr. College and Northwestern. There she studied Opera. Singing was her passion. She was on her way to a beautiful singing career. She had an opportunity to sing in New York, but her mother held her back. So June sang for the lord everyday of her life. She could turn anything into a song. She was truly a gifted singer.
On March 2, 1985 she married Paul S. Whitemon for 19 years, may he R.I.P. In 1987 they moved to California, June Worked for AAA as a Secretary and as an extra in Hollywood mostly on the set for E.R. She loved her some George Clooney.
June, became a member of Life C.O.G.I.C. in 1996 and like most saints on fire for God, she jumped into serving. She became a member of the Deaconess Board under the leadership of Sarah Bradley. She sang in the Church choir as well. In 2004 she starting working in the Church office on Sunday morning. She served in that position until she retired in 2017. She also was a visitor of the Trail Blazers under the leadership of Mother Jesses Simons.
Fun Facts about June: Favorite Book was the Bible. Color: Yellow. TV Show: Martin and Andy Griffin. Favorite Ice Cream: Butter Pecan, loved Grape soda and Hot dogs.
Hobbies: Singing, Making miniature dolls house’s, gardening, coloring and Painting.
The Lord never blessed June with children but she was God Mother to Lilly Epps son Stephen Epps from Chicago and Grandmother “Grandma June” to Evan Ball son of Candy Ball & Emma Ball-Omoruyi Daughter of Jenice Ball.
So far as I know June has one living biological family member. Unknown location Sister Mary Lewis. She leaves behind Robin & Marc Vanerio, Daughter Candy & Jenice Ball, Grandson Evan Ball, Granddaughter Emma Ball-Omoruyi, Sister in Christ Charlotte Smith and her family and all of her church family.
June was proceeded in death by her Husband Paul S. Whitemon, Mother Missionary Ruth Brown, Father Edward Brown, Sister Helen Bryant, Sister Juanita Bryant, Brother Clarence Barbour, Brother Michael Orr and Junes 4 legged kids the cats: Pen Pen, Rodee and Snowey.
