John and Sally Carrillo were deeply cherished by all who knew them. They are remembered by their grandchildren as compassionate, selfless, and proud. Together they lovingly raised a family and devoted their lives to God. Every day they prayed together for their family, a true testament to their compassion for others. Sally often said that she doesn’t judge anyone and had a love for everyone which she proved through her caring ways. She offered a sympathetic ear and wise advice to anyone who needed it.
They both enjoyed telling stories about their lives that ranged from fascinating to humorous. John often told tales of his time proudly serving as an Army corporal during the Korean War and several ghost encounters during his youth. Sally also told stories from her youth of time with her siblings. Some of her favorites were the times she was mistaken for her sister Alice by people in the community.
The Carrillo home was a kind place. Visitors, even new ones, were always welcome and they were greeted with Sally’s fresh, homemade tortillas and beans, with plenty to take home. They were happiest when family visited and they relished in the fact that it made the house feel lived in. John was often found playing with the grandkids swaying them like a bell saying, “Ding-dong, ding-dong”. The Christmas season was a special time in their household. They took joy in the traditions they made by decorating with a themed Christmas tree, house lights, a nutcracker collection, a little village, and passing around the baby Jesus to kiss good night. Time with their family was precious and they made sure they shared their love and gratitude every chance they got.
John and Sally were proud of the home and family they built. Their love is their legacy. They will be dearly loved and missed forever.
