Janet Flenniken Obituary

Janet Elaine Flenniken died peacefully in her home on February 25th 2022, in Riverside, California.  She lived with her beloved, loyal cat, Sam.

Janet was born March 31st, 1941 in Seattle, Washington to Laura (Graham) Slover and Tom Turcott.  She spent most of her childhood in Chico, CA, with her mother and stepfather George E. Slover, growing up with eight brothers and sisters.  Janet moved to Riverside, CA, where she and her husband managed a halfway home for individuals preparing to integrate back into society.  Janet later worked providing administration office support until she retired.  

Janet had an expansive appreciation of music all her life and was particularly a fan of old time classic rock, country and bluegrass.  Janet was known as the Cat Lady and had a kindred love for animals.  She had a witty sense of humor and a generous heart and was an avid baseball fan, where she enjoyed collecting baseball cards as a hobby with her beloved husband, Bob.  Janet was also a gifted storyteller, with a knack for recalling detailed accounts about the good old days of her life.  

Janet was preceded in death by her daughter Kelli J. Flenniken,  her beloved Robert (Bob) Womble, her parents and her siblings Mark A. Slover and Mary E. Clark.  

Janet is survived by six siblings, Judy L. Besser, of Chico, CA, Jo Ann Williams, of Spokane, Washington, Guy G. Slover or Aberdeen Washington, Matt E. Slover of Aberdeen, Washington, Sally F. Slover of Aberdeen, Washington and Nancy J Slover of Forks, Washington,and her Aunt Maylo Hranac of Chicago, Illinois along with many of her nieces and nephews.  

Janet  Flenniken was cherished by many friends and family that crossed her path.  She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved her.
