Gerald “Jerry” Balagna, 90, of Riverside, California passed away on November 28, 2025 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on April 25, 1935 to Walter and Sylvia Balagna in Canon City, Colorado. He was the youngest of five children.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. In 1967, Jerry married Maragaret at St. Emydious Church in Lynwood, California. He enjoyed his 36 years of retirement from Western Electric/Nokia. He enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica, which was a highlight of every family gathering. He also enjoyed shooting baskets at the gym and in the backyard.
Jerry was active in the church, teaching CCD for 25 years. He was a Eucharistic Minister and a lector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Known for his kindness, generosity, and love for his family, Jerry will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Margaret and their three children: Jeffrey, Sylvia, and Mark. He is survived by his sister Clara Johnson. He will be deeply missed by his three grandchildren: Justin, Jocelyn, and Kailey. Jerry was a wonderful husband and father. He loved the Lord.
A memorial mass will be held on December 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Riverside, California. This will be followed by a graveside service at 12:45 PM at the Riverside National Cemetery.
