Edward Altomare Obituary

Edward George Altomare, known to all as Ed, was born on March 23, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts. He passed away peacefully of natural causes in Jurupa Valley on July 20, 2023. Ed’s life was a testament to resilience, generosity, and love, and he will be remembered as a loving, generous, and funny man, whose spirit touched everyone he met.

Ed was the beloved husband of the late Donna Altomare, and a devoted father to Erica Vrosa, Marla Altomare, Shanna Altomare, Tony Altomare Gettamy, and Frances Dowtin. He was a cherished brother to Francine Altomare, Debbie Foreman, Donna Torres, Pam Briseno, Toni Peterson, Diane Jacobs, George Altomare, Jimmy Altomare, and Johnny Altomare. Ed was the proud son of Antonio Altomare and Marie Frizzell Barkley.

Ed's professional life was as diverse as his interests. He worked as a dental technician, truck driver, and self-taught mechanic. His artistic flair led him to become an artist, art instructor, and therapist for disabled children and adults. Ed was a man who never shied away from lending a hand, and his work history and association involvement reflected his commitment to helping others.

Ed's passion for sobriety was an integral part of his life. He was a pillar in his NA family, always ready to sponsor and help those on the path to recovery. Ed's commitment to helping people lead sober, clean, and healthy lives was unwavering, and his impact on those he helped will be remembered for years to come.

Art was a significant part of Ed's life. He found solace and expression through painting, a gift he believed was bestowed upon him by God. Ed generously shared this gift, teaching others to express themselves through the art of painting. He volunteered for many charities, using art therapy to assist disabled children and adults in recovery, helping them navigate their struggles through the therapeutic power of creativity.

Ed's mechanical skills were self-taught, yet he was an excellent mechanic. He found joy in fixing cars, always eager to see the relief and happiness on people's faces when their vehicles would start and run again. His mechanical skills were another way he could lend a hand to those in need.

Above all, Ed's greatest interest was his family. His love for them was immense and unyielding. He made it a point to ensure his loved ones knew how much they meant to him, often expressing his love with heartfelt sincerity. In his later years, Ed formed a special bond with his baby sister Pam, who cared for him. Their relationship was a source of great comfort and joy to him.

Edward George Altomare was a man of many talents and passions, but his most defining trait was his love for his family. He was a beacon of resilience, generosity, and humor, touching the lives of many with his kindness and warmth. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
