Desiree “Dezi” Woodfork, born May 2, 1990, in Columbus, Ohio, was a radiant soul whose laughter, love, and unwavering faith touched everyone who knew her. On June 7, 2025, Dezi’s earthly journey came to a close in Hemet, California, leaving behind a legacy that will forever shine in the hearts of her family and friends.
Dezi lived her life with a contagious joy and a heart overflowing with compassion. Her smile could brighten the darkest room, and her gift for finding humor in life’s simplest moments brought comfort and laughter to those around her. She was a beacon of positivity, and her presence was a reminder of the beauty and resilience of the human spirit.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Dezi served her country with honor, dedication, and deep commitment to her fellow service members. Her time in service was not only a career but a calling—one she lived with integrity, courage, and selflessness. The bonds she built and the impact she made during her years in uniform will never be forgotten.
Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. Rooted in grace, compassion, and love, Dezi’s beliefs guided her actions and uplifted those around her. She lived as an example of kindness and hope, inspiring others to lean on their faith through both joy and hardship.
Dezi is survived by her beloved son, Mateo; her mother, Donye Peyton; her sisters, Dreama, Selena, and Iesha; her brothers, Fernando Jr. and Gregory Jr.; her aunts, Danielle, Danecka, and Dashonda; her uncle, George; and a large, loving extended family. Each one carries forward her memory, her laughter, and her love.
Those who knew Dezi will remember her not just for the way she lived, but for the way she made others feel—loved, seen, and valued. In honoring her, may we choose kindness over judgment, joy over sorrow, and faith over fear. Though her time with us was far too short, the imprint she left on our hearts will remain forever.
