Desiree Nigg Obituary

Desiree Nigg, a beacon of joy and strength, passed away on March 23, 2024, in Wildomar, California, after a courageous battle with end-stage colorectal cancer. Born on August 24, 1980, Desiree's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the human spirit. She was a loving wife to Dustin, a nurturing mother to Mina, Lucy, and Anna, and a cherished daughter to Patricia MacDonald. Through every chapter of her life, Desiree exemplified kindness and friendship, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

Educated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Human Resources, Desiree's professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. Not only did she style life into every strand as a Licensed Hairstylist Beautician, but she also served her country with honor as a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Desiree was deployed four times over the course of her career – three times to Iraq and one last deployment to Afghanistan in 2012. This last deployment was a bigger challenge for Desiree because she had to leave behind her two daughters at the time (Mina and Lucy who were 3-1/2 yo and 2yo at the time mommy left). To compound the stress of leaving her two daughters and husband to go serve her country overseas in Afghanistan combat operations, her father passed away shortly after she arrived in Afghanistan. She ultimately decided against taking emergency leave to return to United States to attend the funeral. She felt it would be too hard on the girls to see their mommy again only to have to leave again five days later. Her dedication to her work was paralleled only by her commitment to her family and friends.

Desiree lived her life fully, embracing every moment with her beloved family and friends, and inspiring others to do the same.

Those who knew Desiree can attest to the words that best describe her: loving, kind, and friendly. She was a friend to many, always there with a listening ear and a heart ready to give. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a melody, and her kindness a refuge for those fortunate enough to cross her path.

With Desiree, "life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away". Desiree's life was a collection of heartwarming moments, a mosaic of memories that will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind.

In her honor, let us remember the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Desiree Nigg will forever be a part of us, her legacy one of love, courage, and the enduring power of the human spirit.

As we bid farewell to Desiree, let us carry forward the light she brought into this world. Let us live as she did, with kindness in our actions and love in our hearts. Let us dance through life, laugh in the face of challenges, and cherish the connections we forge along the way. In doing so, we keep the spirit of Desiree Nigg alive, a spirit that will never be dimmed by time or distance.

Desiree's journey on this earth may have come to an end too early, but her story continues in the lives of those she loved and those who loved her. It is a story of a life well-lived. Let us honor her memory by living our lives with the same passion and purpose that she did.
