Alicia Juana Mejia, también conocida como Alicia Juana Aguilar Mora Chaparro, falleció el viernes, 10 de febrero del 2023 rodeada por su esposo de 48 años, hijos, nietos, hermanas, sobrinos/as, cuñados y nueros/a. Alicia es sobrevivida por su esposo, Marciano “Chano” Mejia, sus 7 hijos, 17 nietos, y 15 hermanos. 

Alicia nació el miércoles, 12 de Junio del 1957 en La Loma, Temascalcingo de Jose Maria Velasco, en el Estado de México. Fue la primera hija de 18 a padres: José Juan “Apa” Aguilar y Benita “Ama” Mora. Sus seres queridos le llamaban afectuosamente “Licha”, “Mom”, “Lichita” o simplemente “Alis”. A la tierna edad de 1 año, Alicia se convirtió en una hermana mayor cuando nació su hermano, Fortino. Después nacieron Vicente Luis, Elena, Beatriz y Rebeca, también en La Loma, Estado de México. A los 8 años de edad, su familia se fue a vivir a Tijuana, Baja California, en donde nacieron sus siguientes 10 hermanos. Alicia fue como una segunda madre para sus hermanos. Desde chica, le gusto cocinar y ayudar con los quehaceres. Luego se entregó completamente a criar sus hijos: Elizabeth (48), Alma (46), Cristina (44), David (40), Carlos (35), Cynthia (30) y Edward (27) quienes fueron su orgullo y alegría. Ella siempre dio con manos llenas, sin expectativa de nadie. Amaba tender a sus plantas, ir a caminar, cocinar ricas comidas, encontrar recetas saludables y estar en familia. Licha/Mom será profundamente extrañada y recordada con mucho cariño por todos los que tuvieron el honor de conocerla. 

Su servicio fúnebre tomará acabó el viernes, 24 de febrero en Huntington Park, California y llegará a su lugar de reposo final, el Cementerio Park Lawn en Commerce, California, a la 1 de la tarde ese mismo día. Inmediatamente después de su entierro, una comida tomará acabó de regreso en Huntington Park a las 3 de la tarde. La familia pide que invitados se vistan de color crema en su honor.

Alicia Juana Mejia, also known as Alicia Juana Aguilar Mora Chaparro, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2023. She passed peacefully surrounded by her husband of 48 years, children, grandchildren, sisters, nephews, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. Alicia is survived by her husband, Marciano "Chano" Mejia, their 7 children, 17 grandchildren, and 15 living siblings. 

Alicia was born on Wednesday, June 12, 1957 in La Loma, Temascalcingo de Jose Maria Velasco, in the State of Mexico. She was the second child - the first surviving - of 18 born to Jose Juan “Apa” Aguilar and Benita “Ama” Mora. Her loved ones affectionately called her "Licha", "Mom", "Lichita" or simply, "Alis". At the tender age of one, Alicia became an older sister when her brother, Fortino, was born. After Fortino, Vicente Luis, Elena, Beatriz and Rebeca were also born in La Loma, Mexico. At the age of 8, her family moved to Tijuana, Baja California, where her additional 10 brothers and sisters were born. Alicia was like a second mother to her siblings. Since early childhood, she took on cooking and helped with child rearing

as well as house chores. As a mother, she devoted herself entirely to the upbringing of her children: Elizabeth (48), Alma (46), Cristina (44), David (40), Carlos (35), Cynthia (30) and Edward (27) who were her pride and joy. Alicia provided boundless love and kindness without expectations of anyone. She loved to tend to her plants, go on walks, cook delicious meals, research nutritious recipes and healthy lifestyle tips, and spend time with family. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of selfless love, devotion and service. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her. 

A memorial service will take place on Friday, February 24 in Huntington Park, California. Following a viewing, she will arrive at her final resting place at Park Lawn Cemetery in Commerce, California at 1 p.m. Immediately following her interment, a reception will take place back in Huntington Park at 3 p.m. The family kindly requests that guests wear cream/beige color in her honor.
